Panel Upholds Wrongful Firing

Randy Olson, Chuck Mack and Chuck Engel
Randy Olson is a former package car driver, shop steward and political opponent of IBT VP Chuck Mack. Randy is a pro-reform Teamster who campaigned tirelessly for Ron Carey and Tom Leedham and ran in opposition to Chuck Mack for Secretary-Treasurer and convention delegate. Randy was also an organizer of the recently settled NAACP multi-state class action lawsuit against UPS.

In September of 1995, Randy was injured off the job. When he arrived at the gate on Aug. 17, 1998 he was notified of his termination in violation of Article 8, Section 1 of the Northern California Supplemental Agreement. Despite over-whelming evidence on Randy’s behalf Chuck Mack’s Joint Council 7 UPS grievance panel unanimously ruled against him. Randy has filed a breach of duty of fair representation and of collective bargaining agreement lawsuit with the U.S. District Court in Northern California. A jury trial has been demanded.

A Randy Olson Web Page has been created by his friends containing extensive documentation of his case. It can be viewed at http://ebdir.net/olson/. If you have been wrongfully terminated at panel, please contact the Friends of Randy Olson at olsonsfriends@aol.com. Please provide a synopsis of your situation.

We, the friends of Randy Olson, are in the process of recognizing, defining and documenting corruption in its various guises. We are using the Internet to explore and share strategies with an evolving network of labor activists.
